Hi Everyone!
I’m Renee King, the owner of The Queen’s Cups. As many of you may know, we moved from our tiny little bakery in Millbury to our new location in Worcester on August 1st. Time is going by very fast, and we are loving our new environment and neighborhood.
When Andrew approached me to create a new website, I knew it needed to be done. I have always placed a lot of emphasis on our Facebook and Instagram pages but put our website on the backburner. I also had been approached to redo our website many times, and I can be easily put off by anyone who is too much of a salesman towards me. One thing about me is, I never make a business decision in one day and like to be 100% comfortable when doing so. Andrew and I knew each other for a while since we catered his wedding, and have many mutual friends. I knew he’d be a great fit to work with The Queen’s Cups. Plus, he visits us for a treat multiple times a week, so I knew he valued us and I appreciated that.
Andrew started designing our new website and I loved everything he showed me. The two things I loved the most when seeing the new site was the Team section and the Blog section. It’s not a secret that I love my staff. I think the world of them. I believe in their talent, I’m vested in their life outside of work and appreciate the fact that they value me as a boss. All of them have vastly different lives, come from different family types and have their own story. I thought the Team section was a great way for our customers to get to know them better… because let’s face it, “The Queen” as everyone calls me, couldn’t get through a day without the small army that works in the kitchen.
Besides the Team section, I was super excited about the Blog because I thought it was another way that everyone can get to know us on another level. I want everyone to know that whoever works at The Queen’s Cups are people too… with families, and problems, and feelings. I think sometimes that is forgotten. We have some staff right now that are going through a lot of life changes, and they are still working their ass off for me. I want them to be celebrated for dealing with life and producing some of the most creative things I’ve ever seen.
I gave all my kitchen staff a blog topic. Every topic is something that I truly believe our customers can relate to. I hope you’re as excited as I am! Over the next couple weeks, we will be unveiling a bunch of new “Behind the Cupcakes” blog posts about different members of the TQC team!
Me, on the other hand, I’ve had a hard time coming up with something for myself. I’m pretty transparent, but my life seems kind of boring compared to the rest of the girls, so for now, I’ll leave the cool stuff and blog posts for them and I’ll answer some questions about who I am until I come up with something better.
What’s your whole name?
Renee Ann King
Are you named after anyone?
My mom named me after an actress on a soap opera because she was “strong” and “independent.”
Do you have any siblings?
Yes, I have two older brothers, Rob and Paul.
Where did you grow up?
In Millbury!
What activities did you do in high school?
I played basketball and soccer and was the Vice President of my class. I worked at an Aftercare program at our elementary schools. I tried to stay pretty active.
Where did you go to college?
I went to Westfield State for my first year and then transferred to Worcester State!
What activities did you do in college?
I was a commuter, so I didn’t get involved with too much, unfortunately. I was coaching basketball and working at the same time as going to school. And then I eventually started baking and … life changed forever.

I like everything… I’m a big fan of rap, R&B and local music.
What’s one hobby that you’d like to take up?
I recently started doing hot yoga, and I am becoming obsessed with it. I would like to do it as often as I could and I would like to start taking meditation classes.
What did you think you wanted to be when you grew up?
A teacher. Always, since I was little.
What’s the biggest project on your to-do list right now?
The things I am focusing on the most is: having half a day where I can do all my paperwork without being interrupted every five minutes…and coming up with new wedding packages for 2018 along with an all-new catering menu.
Do you have any irrational fears?
Getting hit by a drunk driver.
Have you ever traveled outside the country? If so, where and when?
I was lucky enough to go to Greece last year. It was stunningly beautiful and I miss the food!
When’s your next vacation and where are you going?
Haha, that’s funny.
Do you speak any other languages?
I wish!!
What’s one talent that you wish you had?
Being musically talented or being able to run more than two miles without hyperventilating.
What’s something that you wish you did more of?
Yoga…putting away my clothes… cook at home more.
If you weren’t in your current job, what would you want to be doing?
I would probably be a teacher or counselor. I also want to be a florist in my next life.
So, that’s a little bit of me in a nutshell… but my staff has some great topics coming at you! So stay tuned ?
